my old wood stove blower makes a humming noise when i turn on the the bower but doesnt blow?
does anyone know why? is it temperature controlled? or is the fan burned out? it is a lopi- probably 20 years old
Sounds like the blower may be no good. Carefully try to spin the blower while it is humming (if you can get to it). Sometimes they will spin and catch up to speed but the motor or the capacitor (if it has one) is bad and needs to be replaced. Look for a capacitor. They are a small round or oval metal box. It will be connected to the blower motor by wires. If you can trace all the wires from the motor and none go to a capacitor, you need a new motor. Good luck...
